“The sex has been amazing.”

“Really? What about my cooking?”

“I love your cooking.”

Mrs. Tee inhaled deeply. She knew that her husband was placating her.

She closed her eyes.

They held hands for a long time.

“Are you going to be okay?” she asked weakly.

“Of course.” Mr. Tee smiled and planted a kiss on his wife’s forehead. “Don’t you worry about a thing. Rest now,” he said.

The ECG beeped a flat line.

Mrs. Tee’s grip became loosened.

“I love you, but I lied,” Mr. Tee whispered under his breath. “I am not going to be okay.”
